Accumulating vs distributing
Two ways an ETF can handle dividends: reinvest inside the fund (acc) or pay them out as cash (dist).
Coverage ratio
How many times earnings (or free cash flow) covers the dividend obligation.
Dividend Aristocrat
An S&P 500 company that has raised its dividend every year for at least 25 consecutive years.
Historical FX (on cost basis)
Applying the exchange rate that prevailed on the day of each transaction, not today's rate retroactively.
Mark-to-market
Valuing a position at the current market price, refreshed continuously.
Payout ratio
The share of a company's earnings being returned to shareholders as dividends.
UCITS ETF
A European-regulated ETF wrapper, domiciled in Ireland or Luxembourg, sold across the EU.
Yield on cost
The dividend stream divided by what you actually paid, not by today's price.
